Diseases and Treatments

We are with you throughout the entire process from diagnosis to treatment for your heart and vascular health.

Varicose Vein Treatments

Varicose veins are a common vascular condition that can cause pain, swelling, and cosmetic concerns in the legs.

Heart Bypass Treatment

Bypass surgery is a surgical procedure performed to restore blood flow when there is a blockage in the heart arteries.

Heart Valve Diseases

Heart valve diseases occur due to narrowing (stenosis) or incomplete closure (regurgitation) of the heart valves.

Heart Transplantation and Artificial Heart Implantation

Heart transplantation is the replacement of a damaged heart with a healthy donor heart in patients with advanced heart failure.

Arterial Diseases

Arterial diseases arise from problems such as narrowing, blockage, or dilation (aneurysm) of the arteries.

Lymphatic System Diseases

Lymphatic system diseases are disorders affecting the lymph vessels and nodes that regulate the body's immune response and fluid balance.

The goal of varicose vein treatment is to improve quality of life. The condition usually follows a benign course, and most patients do not require surgery, achieving good results with conservative treatments. Treatment should be considered if symptoms seriously affect the patient’s quality of life. In some patients with large varicose veins, more aggressive surgical methods may be tried if complications such as bleeding or ulceration develop.

It should be noted that varicose veins tend to recur after a certain period if contributing factors (excess weight, prolonged standing, estrogen use) are not eliminated.

Methods used in varicose vein treatment include:

  • Adhesive therapy

  • Foam therapy

  • Laser therapy

For patients with mild symptoms, compression stockings are recommended. Depending on the location of the varicose veins, below-knee, above-knee, or pantyhose-type stockings are advised. However, patients most easily use below-knee stockings. Compression stockings are available with light, medium, high, and very high pressure. For prevention, light compression stockings are sufficient. However, patients with varicose veins and swelling should wear higher pressure stockings.

Compression stockings are often used incorrectly by many people. They should be worn after the patient’s veins have been emptied. First, the patient should lie down and elevate the leg for 5-10 minutes. Then, the compression stocking should be put on. During the day, the patient should wear the stockings while standing or walking. It is not necessary to wear them while sleeping at night.

The necessity and type of treatment vary by patient. Small varicose veins causing cosmetic concerns in a young woman can be treated, while more widespread varicose veins in elderly patients can be monitored lifelong with compression stockings. Generally, varicose veins causing discomfort, pain, or swelling should be treated. Advanced varicose veins, especially those causing skin color changes or ulcers, must be treated.
